Sarah Friend is the Village Agent for our community. As a Village Agent, having come from a rural background herself, Sarah understands that the needs and wishes of people living in rural areas may be different from those in urban communities. Her role is to help all those over 50 to access information and advice to allow them to remain living independently within the community.
Her aim is to listen and work with those who need her help to achieve these wishes. She can help with all sorts of issues you may have, from transport to medical appointments, support for carers, fire safety checks, advice on unwanted callers and scams, claiming for benefits and assistance with mobility, to helping you find activity groups so you can socialise with others.
If you would like advice on anything please call Sarah on 07422 078548 or 01275 888 803 (office) or email her.
You can make savings on your oil bill by joining WERN's community oil buying scheme. Download a membership form or ask for a copy to be sent by post. There is an annual fee of £20 for householders (£30 for community buildings including churches, schools and village halls and £100 for businesses), but this is currently FREE for anyone over 60. The average saving for a 1,000 litre order is about £35, so you could easily recover your membership fee with your first order. The minimum order is just 500 litres, and the price isn’t any higher for small orders.
This service provided by the West of England Rural Network (WERN) and is part of Community Connect in partnership with Curo and funded by North Somerset Council.
